Dr. Bane Vasic is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Arizona, Tucson.  Prior to this appointment, he was at Bell Laboratories.  He developed a decoding algorithm which is implemented in today's magnetic hard drives.
