2015 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT)
ISIT 2015 will take place in Hong Kong from June 14 to June 19 . To make ISIT 2015 a special experience, we thought we will try a few new things this year:
- the highest ISIT reception ever, on the 100th floor of the tallest building in Hong Kong
- the first ISIT banquet on a boat
- a mobile app for navigating around the conference: downloaded at App Store (iPhone) and Google Play Store (Android). Search for “ISIT 2015”.
- a new addition to the standard ISIT conference format. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, right after the plenary talks, there will be two parallel semi-plenary sessions. The 22 talks, carefully selected from the submitted papers, will highlight some of the exciting developments in the field this year, particularly ones that forge new directions and new connections with other fields. They also include the 5 finalists for the Jack Wolf Student Paper Award.
The Shannon Lecture this year will be presented by Rob Calderbank on "The Art of Signaling". The TPC Co-chairs have lined up some excellent plenary speakers in diverse areas. Bin Yu will explain how data science can help answer the question of how organs are formed; Madhu Sudan will talk about locality in coding theory; Terry Sejnowski will discuss communication and computation in the brain; Rudi Urbanke will tell us whether Reed-Muller codes achieve capacity. Stay tuned.
We wish you a good and productive time at ISIT and in Hong Kong!
