Biography

Ingmar Land (M'00-SM'12) is Head of the Team Communication Algorithm Design at the Mathematical and Algorithmic Sciences Lab of the Huawei Paris Research Center, France. Before joining Huawei in 2014, he was Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Telecommunications Research, University of South Australia, 2007-2014, and Assistant Professor at Aalborg University, Denmark, 2005-2006. He received his Dr.-Ing. in 2004 from the University of Kiel, Germany, and studied for his Dipl.-Ing. at the University of Ulm and the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany.

Ingmar Land was recipient of four competitive research grants from the Australian Research Council, and has extensive experience with academic and commercial research projects. He has more than 60 scientific publications in journals and on conferences, one book chapter and one book, and he holds various patents. He was awarded the Fakultätspreis 2006 for the best doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Kiel; the ITG Literaturpreis 2006 from the Verein Deutscher Elektrotechniker, Germany, for pioneering research in the field of information technology; and the Teacher of the Year Award 2006 by the Department of Electronic Systems, Aalborg University.

His main research interests are coding and information theory with application to wireless and wireline communications, multi-user communications, cooperative communications, physical-layer security, and distributed storage.
