Research Interests

  • Coding Theory


Seungkook Park was born in Daegu, Republic of Korea. He received the B.S. degree and the M.S. degree in mathematics from Kyungpook National University, Daegu, Republic of Korea, in 1995 and 1997, respectively. He served in the Korean army from September 1, 1997 to November 1, 1999. In 2001, he enrolled in the Ph.D. program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) to study mathematics and received his Ph.D. degree in 2007 under the supervision of Iwan M. Duursma. He has held a visiting assistant professor position at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Cincinnati, from 2007 to 2009 and a research fellow position at the School of Computational Sciences, Korea Institute for Advanced Study ( KIAS ) from 2009 to 2011. Since 2011, he has been with the Department of Mathematics, Sookmyung Women’s University, where he is currently an associate professor. His main areas of research interest are arithmetic geometry, coding theory and cryptography.
