Venkatesan received his M.E degree in Telecommunication from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India in 2008.  Since Aug 2009,  has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the University of California at Berkeley, where he is pursuing the Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Prof. Kannan Ramchandran. Prior to that he was with Juniper Networks, Bangalore.

He is the recipient of the Best Paper award in the Algorithms track, from IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing in Sensor Systems (DCOSS '08). He was awarded the Commendation of the Senate, IISc in 2008, Gold medal in Bachelors from NITK Surathkal, 2006 and the National Talent Search Examination Scholarship from the Govt of India from 2000 to 2006.

His research interests include distributed systems, adhoc networks, information theory, inference algorithms. He is currently working on signal processing for intelligent transportation systems.
