Registration is now open at nasit-2022.seas.ucla.edu for the 2022 North American School of Information Theory (NASIT)  2022.  Each year the IEEE Information Theory Society holds a North American School to help graduate students working on problems in information theory across the continent and the world come together to learn about the latest research frontiers in information theory and to form a community across the many universities. NASIT 2022 will be in person in Los Angeles at UCLA August 16-19, 2022.

Professor Elza Erkip will present the prestigious Padovani Lecture.  Shannon Award winner Alon Orlitsky will reveal the information theoretic foundations for data science. Professor Urbashi Mitra will explore active learning for numerous applications including wireless body area sensor networks. Professor Victoria Kostina from Cal Tech will explain the information bottlenecks in distributed control and computation. Professor Christina Fragouli will show how group testing can take community correlations into account. Shannon Award winner Erdal Arikan will tell the story of how he discovered polar codes and their use in 5G communications and beyond.  Phil Regalia will provide an overview of the National Science Foundations programs in Information Theory.

NASIT 2022 also features poster sessions where each graduate student attendee presents about their current research or an interesting area of information theory.  As an exciting break, NASIT attendees will spend an afternoon discovering the amazing art collection, gardens, architecture, and panoramic views to the Los Angeles Getty Center.

We thank our sponsors IEEE, Qualcomm, the National Science Foundation, and SK Hynix. If you are interested in reaching our highly qualified group attendees through sponsorship of NASIT 2022, email  organizer Richard Wesel [email protected].
