The Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur is celebrating Shannon's Centenary Day on 19th October 2016. The event is co-sponsored by IEEE Information Theory Society.

During the day, distinguished speakers from around the world will talk about Claude Shannon's work and its impact on different areas of communications, signal processing, biology and computation. The speakers include Prof. Kannan Ramchandran, University of California, Berkeley, USA; Prof. Emre Teletar, EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland; Prof. Daniel J. Costello, Jr., University of Notre Dame, USA; Prof. Michelle Effros, California Institute of Technology, USA and Dr. Thomas Schneider, National Institute of Health, Maryland, USA.
