Position for PhD student on Channel Coding at Huawei Paris Research Centre

The Mathematical and Algorithmic Sciences Lab of the Huawei Paris Research Centre is seeking strong candidates for an open position to pursue a PhD in the area of polar coding, to be filled as soon as possible.

Polar codes are a new class of forward error correction codes, and they attracted high attention in academia and industry, particularly with their recent adoption for 5G. The PhD project aims at developing novel code and decoder designs to improve metrics like performance, complexity, latency, power consumption. These new codes are targeting applications in future wireless communication systems. The project will be aligned with and support our ongoing research in advanced channel coding.

The PhD project will be jointly supervised by experts at Huawei Paris and a professor at a French University (CIFRE fellowship), and thus offers the opportunity to obtain both a scientific degree and industrial working experience. The coding team at Huawei Paris has a long history with innovative research in polar coding, including scientific publications, tutorials and workshops at international conferences, and impact on 5G standardisation; they are further well connected to French academia.

Candidates should have a solid technical background, be fluent in spoken and written English, and be open-minded to our international working environment.

Applications including CV and letter of motivation should be sent by email to Ingmar Land. The applicants can also contact Ingmar Land for further information.
