The Information Theory Society proudly invites you to the online premiere of  The Bit Player , the first feature documentary about the father of the information age, Claude Shannon — watch the trailer below.

Mixing contemporary interviews, archival film, animation, and dialogue drawn from interviews conducted with Shannon himself,  The Bit Player  tells the story of an overlooked genius who revolutionized the world, but never lost his childlike curiosity, and the ubiquitous impact of his discoveries on today’s science and technology.

This unique free film screening celebrates the end of the  2020 International Symposium on Information Theory . You have two opportunities to watch the film.

The film will be  streamed for free  through Zoom this Friday, June 26, at 11:10 am Pacific Time and will be followed by a panel discussion with Shannon’s MIT colleague Robert Gallager, film director Mark Levinson, Professor Urbashi Mitra, and Shannon Awardee David Tse.

After the panel ends and throughout the weekend, until midnight Sunday, the film will also be available for  free streaming on Vimeo Password: Shannon-ISIT
