Research Engineer Positions in Channel Coding and Digital Signal Processing for Fibre-Optical Communications at Huawei Paris Research Centre

The Mathematical and Algorithmic Sciences Lab of the Huawei Paris Research Centre is seeking strong candidates for permanent junior and senior research positions in the area of channel coding and modulation as well as digital signal processing for fibre-optical communications, to be filled as soon as possible.

The research will aim at innovation in the design of coded modulation, encoding and decoding algorithms, signal processing, and implementation, and is performed in teams spanning across multiple international Huawei research sites.

Main responsibilities

  • research and innovation in the area of channel coding, coded modulation, digital signal processing for fibre-optical communications;
  • theory exploration, advanced algorithm design, analysis, and simulation;
  • generation of intellectual property and patent filing;
  • collaboration with other business units for exploitation of research outputs;
  • create and maintain strong collaborative associations with university-based researchers;
  • contribute to the creative and innovative atmosphere at the Huawei Paris Research Centre.

Required qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in communications;
  • solid knowledge in coding theory, communication theory and digital signal processing
  • experience in algorithm design for channel coding and modulation, or for digital signal processing for coherent and non-coherent optical communications;
  • solid track record of publications in top-level scientific journals and conferences;
  • ability to conduct independent research while also contributing to team-oriented projects;
  • fluency in spoken and written English.

Desired qualifications

  • familiarity with Matlab, C/C++, and other simulation tools;
  • familiarity with algorithm implementation, complexity evaluation, and optimisation for complexity, latency, power consumption;
  • strong oral and written communication skills.
