The IEEE Information Theory Society invites you to nominate candidates for the following awards. Please check each item for details on the procedure for nominations and deadlines.

IEEE IT Claude E. Shannon Award

The IEEE Information Theory Society Claude E. Shannon Award is given annually for consistent and profound contributions to the field of information theory.Award winners are expected to deliver the Shannon Lecture at the annual IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory held in the year of the award.

Aaron D. Wyner Distinguished Service Award

The Aaron D. Wyner Distinguished Service Award of the IT Society has been instituted to honor an individual who has shown outstanding leadership in, and provided long-standing, exceptional service to, the Information Theory community. This award was formerly known as the IT Society Distinguished Service Award.

IEEE Information Theory Society 2010 Paper Award 

The Information Theory Society Paper Award is given annually for an outstanding publication in the fields of interest to the Society appearing anywhere during the preceding two calendar years. The purpose of this Award is to recognize exceptional publications in the field and to stimulate interest in and encourage contributions to fields of interest of the Society. The Award consists of a certificate and an honorarium of US$1,000 for a paper with a single author, or US$2,000 equally split among multiple authors. The award will be given for a paper published in the two preceding years.

IEEE Joint Comsoc/IT 2010 Paper Award

The Joint Communications Society/Information Theory Society Paper Award recognizes outstanding papers that lie at the intersection of communications and information theory. Any paper appearing in a ComSoc or IT Society publication during the years 2007–2009 is eligible for the 2010 award.

IEEE Fellow Program

IEEE Fellow status is granted to a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments. The honor is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors, and the total number of elected Fellows in any one year is limited to 0.1% of the IEEE voting membership.
