Program Scope: To create pathways into the faculty for promising early career scholars, UAA will support an annual cohort of Presidential Postdoctoral Fellows who will join Rutgers for two years with the possibility of a future tenure-track appointment at the host department. Presidential Postdoctoral Fellows typically teach one course each year (or equivalent, e.g. mentoring of students) in the department or program of their appointment. Fellows are expected to participate in a series of meetings and workshops structured for the purposes of networking, social interaction, and supporting professional development, as offered by the Office of Postdoctoral Advancement and other units and programs. All Presidential Postdoctoral Fellows will be selected across four Rutgers priority areas: Race, Racism, and Inequality; Health Equity; Advancing STEM Diversity; and Engaged Climate Action. Applicants may request to be affiliated with a particular campus across the Rutgers corridor, although all placements will be determined in consultation with departmental, school, and CLU leadership.
Support: For each Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow, the EVPAA will support 100% of salary up to $65,000 and fringe for up to two years, plus $10,000 in discretionary research funding annually. If a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow is converted to a tenure-track appointment at Rutgers, the EVPAA will support 100% of salary and fringe and $10,000 in discretionary funds for one additional year as a faculty member.
