We have multiple open vacancies for PhD students and Postdocs in communication and information theory and the application of machine learning in reliable communications at the Communications Engineering Lab (CEL, Prof. Laurent Schmalen) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany.
Topics of the positions are centered around the realization of energy-efficient communication systems and future 6G communications. Topics include, but are not limited to
- Machine learning for energy efficient communication system, with a focus on both the physical and media access control layer
- Information theory for energy efficient and complexity-constrained communication systems
- Novel flexible channel coding schemes for short block and medium block lengths
- Information theory and novel waveforms for joint communications and sensing
- Semantic communications in the context of 6G
The tasks of the position include carrying out independently research in one of the fields above, This includes the mathematical analysis of new data transmission schemes as well as the software implementation of simulation and evaluation tools. Besides this, you are responsible for the publication of selected research results in scientific journals and conferences. Other tasks include the support of teaching activities at the Communications Engineering Lab (CEL). The job is associated with the goal of graduating with a Dr.-Ing. (German quivalent of a PhD) degree.
