The United States Department of Commerce has announced the 1998 Medal of Technology program which is offered for achievement in technological innovation. This medal is "bestowed upon individuals, teams or companies for accomplishments in the innovation, development, and commercialization of technology as evidenced by the establishment of new or significantly improved products, processes, or services."
