1995 Shannon Lecturer
At each International Symposium on
Information Theory, there is a lecture
designated the "Claude E. Shannon
Lecture". The decision to have a
lecture and the choice of speaker
is made by a selection committee
consisting of Society officers and
two former Shannon Lecturers. Its
purpose is to honor consistent and
profound contributions to the field
of information theory. The Shannon
Lecture is the highest honor bestowed
by the IT Society. It includes an
honorarium of $1000, plus travel
expenses.
Dr. G. David Forney will be the Shannon
Lecturer for the 1995 IEEE International
Symposium on Information Theory.
