Content Responsibility

Who should be responsible for what content on the website?

With the new website, there are several models we can follow:

  • Pull: Online Editor(s) request content from various people in the community, help develop the content, and are ultimately responsible for putting it into the website with proper linking and formating.  This should be the default model.
  • Push: Community members contribute the content, subject to at least some review by Online Editor(s), but are largely responsible for its placement and formating.  Profiles, Dissertations, News, and Events seem to be good choices for the Push model.
  • Delegate: Online Editor(s) enable Officers, Committee Chairs, and Chapter Presidents to take charge of certain areas of the website, and then those individuals decide how to handle content in that area to suite their news, e.g., Pull, Push, or further Delegate.  The BoG, Committee, Chapter, Conference, and Newsletters folders seem to be good choices for the Delegate model.

Mixture of all?

I think that we should have Online Editors nominally in charge of each section (this can be divvied up however they like) so that contributing person knows who will be overseeing their Push stuff, etc.
