2012 European School of Information Theory

The 2012 IEEE European School of Information Theory will take place in Antalya, Turkey between the 16th and the 20th of April.

Jointly organized by CTTC (Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya), TUM (Technische Universität München) and Bahcesehir University, and officially sponsored by the IEEE Information Theory Society, the 2012 IEEE European School of Information Theory will take place in AntalyaTurkey between the 16th and the 20th of April. Traditionally organized every two years, the next European school will arrive earlier than usual due to the increasing interest of the European students in the field. As usual, this year's school will bring together students from many different countries and provide them the opportunity to listen to distinguished researchers in the field, present their own research results and get feedback. 

The list of lecturers for this year and the tentative titles of their talks are as follows.

  • Frans Willems (Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands): Introduction to Universal Source Coding and Biometrics
  • Sennur Ulukus (University of Maryland, USA): Information Theoretic Security
  • Alex Dimakis (University of Southern California, USA): Network Coding for Distributed Storage
  • Michael Gastpar (UC Berkeley, USA and EPFL, Switzerland): Algebraic Structure in Network Information Theory
  • Amos Lapidoth (ETHZ, Switzerland) Two by Gel'fand and Pinsker
  • Gerhard Kramer  (TUM, Germany)  Network Flow and Network Coding
